1) What’s New
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
We have changed over to the NEW Newsletter system. Transitions between systems are always painful and have it problems. If you are reading this then you don’t need to do anything. This message is being sent out using the new system.
You should also get a reminder of the change is going to be sent out via the old system.

2) Crystal Memories
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Just because I have had so many questions about this, yes Crystal Memories came out at Consonance and I had it on sale on the online store. However, due to many people buying more than one copy of the CD I ran out. When the online store runs out of an item it removes it from view.
As soon as I get some more CD, which should be soon, they will appear in the store again.

3) Change of Postal rates
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
I just saw in the news that Postal Rates are going up again at the start of May. I haven’t done the math yet, but it does mean that I will have to raise the shipping rates for the online store.

4) Help save Internet radio!
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
The Copyright Royalty Board (CRB) issued the significantly higher new royalty rates for Internet radio for the 2006-2010 periods to the tune of 149% increase.
This increase will have an impact not just on Filk Radio but on internet radio as a whole and will cause many stations to either shut down or turn totally pirate. To give you an idea what this means, I currently pay about $500 fee to cover royalties. By 2010 I will have to pay over $1,500 for the same royalties. I wouldn’t mind so much if the money were really going to the artists rather than the lawyers of big conglomerations trying to control what you hear.
Here are two good sites with much more information.

Please take the time to write to your Senators and Representatives. Send both an e-mail message and a paper snail mail message. It is important for you to take the time to do this! Don’t let the big corporations take control of the internet radio the way they have taken control of regular radio.
The above links do have more links and sample letters to help you write a message to your Senators and Representatives.

Please put the word “FILK” in your subject line when sending me an e-mail. It is a good way for me to pick it out of the spam.
Also tell your friends about the website and filk radio.
